Celia Schwartz, MSW (she/her)

Registered Social Clinical Worker

Headshot of Celia Schwartz at New Pathways Therapy

Welcome!

My name is Celia Schwartz and I have been working with individuals in a variety of settings for over 30 years to help uncover the obstacles that have kept them from moving forward in their lives. I see myself as someone who is able to work from a client-centred approach, providing support and compassion. My belief is that each of us is capable of changing and overcoming psychological suffering.

I work with trauma-informed, body-oriented therapies and draw on EMDR, CBT, mindfulness, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), narrative approaches and couples therapy from an integrative approach.

“ I work with individuals on finding their own voice and pathway. I use the process that most speaks to them.”

My Background

I graduated from Loyola University with a Masters of Social Work (MSW) in the Chicago, Illinois.  I am a member of good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).  I have worked for years with individuals suffering from the impacts of childhood trauma, adult trauma, chronic pain, chronic illness, emotional eating, and mood disorders.  I have supported individuals to experience relief by facing what is difficult with empathy and humility.

Areas of expertise

I have developed intensive programs in Toronto for chronic pain, childhood trauma, mood disorders and emotional eating.   These programs have allowed me to foster a deeper understanding of the need for approaches that integrate both our awareness of how our body holds pain and memory, as well as uncovering the beliefs we carry forward from our histories.  I take the approach that each person’s needs are varied and I am flexible in partnering to understand what methodology is the best way forward.
